Do the apartments located at the foot of the ski runs in Châtel have direct access to the ski lifts?
Châtel is a village resort, which means that unlike Avoriaz, for example, you won't find any ‘ski-in/ski-out’ accommodation: you can't ski out of your apartments, or ski back in. However, it is possible to book a apartment or chalet at the foot of the ski slopes, right next to a ski lift. This means you can access the ski lifts directly or join a nearby piste in just a few metres. The Châtel ski area has 5 ski lifts and 3 pistes that allow you to return to the resort on skis:
- Super-Châtel cable car, Return on skis possible
- Petit-Châtel chairlift,
- Vonnes chairlifts (Portes du Soleil - Gabelou)
- Linga chairlift, Return skiing possible
- Pré la Joux chairlifts (Pré la Joux - Pierre Longue), Return skiing possible

Is it really possible to ski straight to and from the resort?
Unlike Avoriaz, Châtel is a village resort and is not one of the so-called ‘ski-in/ski-out’ resorts. However, some apartments and chalets are located very close to the ski lifts or slopes, allowing you to ski back to the resort. However, there are no properties in Châtel offering direct access to the slopes from the front door.
Can you rent a property at the foot of the slopes in summer?
During the summer season, four ski lifts remain open in Châtel and are accessible to both pedestrians and mountain bikers. You can therefore stay in an apartment or chalet located right next to the Super-Châtel gondola lift or the Pierre-Longue chairlift at Pré-la-Joux. And if your accommodation is a little further away, the resort’s free shuttle buses, which also run in summer, make it easy to reach the various departure points.
